Food and Connect: perfect pairing to toast autumn.

Food and Connect, Connect and Food: this is how we welcomed autumn in the Park on September 22. Taking advantage of the positive winds blown by the pandemic and the still warm temperatures of the summer, the community of the Park met before a new course. A time to meet again after the summer. Also to learn about the news of the incubated companies. But above all to share laughs, tables and a good paella.

FPCM Connect VIII: what’s new, old?

The day began with the FPCM Connect VIII, the Park’s periodic meeting in which to learn first-hand about new companies and the novelties of the rest. On this occasion, five companies presented and a somewhat different approach was given. In addition to meeting the recently incubated V-Vision, the old companies of the Park also had their place. This is how we hear the voice of the experience of Natac, a veteran incubated in the Park since 2010. This biotechnology company, dedicated to extracting bioactives from plant extracts, has grown to expand worldwide. We also heard from Funditec, a brand new technology center that supports universities and IPOs to connect with industry on topics as diverse as advanced materials, agri-food and digital transformation.

There was also room for the younger sap. V-Vision explained its approach to solving ophthalmic problems through virtual reality. The ex-ESA BIC Nanostine presented us with her competitive physical method for synthesizing nanoparticles. These particles have multiple applications in energy, medicine, aerospace or water treatment, to name a few. Finally, Bioento told us about its use of soldier fly larvae (Hermetia illucens) to sustainably dispose of organic waste. An activity of great interest for agriculture, livestock, the public sector and the food and distribution sector.

As usual, the Connect was closed by our Head of Communication and Institutional Relations, Carmen Gilabert. In addition to briefly describing the services offered by the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), of which the FPCM is a member, he presented the new website of the EEN Madrid consortium. It should not be forgotten that the FPCM Connect are carried out within the framework of the activities of this network.

Autumn lunch: mixed company paella

After the Connect, more than 140 people enjoyed a pleasant meal outside the Park. Staff from the more than 70 companies in the Park and the FPCM team tasted again a juicy paella cooked on site. Some did not make it to the appetizers, others were left without dessert, but they were all able to share a few hours of relaxation in the sun… or in the shade, for the sun still stung!

As in any event of collective intelligence, we already have ideas and suggestions to make next year’s Autumn Meal even better. In the meantime, we also have renewed strength to face whatever the new season has in store for us.

And for l@s nostálgic@s and influencers of the Park, here is a compilation of photos of both events in this album.
