Training in Waste Management in the Park, 2022.

Last Wednesday, January 19, a training on waste was given for the 18 companies of the Park with laboratories. The session, held in digital format by the waste management company CESPA, was attended by 30 people.

Caridad Pastrana, from CESPA, designed a very complete training session. First, it offered a general context on waste management: definition, types, benefits and risks of its incorrect segregation. He also detailed the existing obligations for the producer. He then listed the existing legal regulations in this regard and offered reference documentation.

The bulk of the training was dedicated to the classification of waste and its management. Regarding its classification, the types of waste existing in the Park were described in detail. These are: risk-free, special biosanitary, chemical, cytotoxic and special waste. For each type, how to dispose of them in the containers, how to package them and how to label them were analyzed through various examples.

Throughout these two sections, the staff of the companies asked numerous questions about the treatment of certain products used in the Park. The rapporteur answered these questions with great solvency. In the last section, Pastrana analyzed some errors observed in waste management during a visit to the Park the week before the training.

With this session, the FPCM seeks to improve, on the part of the entire community of the Park, waste management, one of the services offered in the facilities to incubated companies. In this way we will contribute to improving the environmental quality, the economic efficiency of the treatment and the occupational safety of all the people in the Park and the management chain outside it.

At the express request of CESPA, it is not possible to publish the recording of the session or the documentation provided to the attending companies.
