On September 28, the Science Park Foundation of Madrid (FPCM) celebrated its 20th Birthday Party together with the companies incubated in the Park. This Festival was a long-awaited event – delayed first by the pandemic and then by a DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels of the atmosphere) – and constitutes the beginning of the commemorative activities of the 20th anniversary of the FPCM. After the DANA, the weather gave attendees a good day outdoors.

More than 120 people enjoyed a pleasant meal outside the Park at the Fiesta, including an appetizing paella cooked on site. At the aperitif and lunch, the staff of the more than 80 companies in the Park and the FPCM team were able to share a well-deserved time of socialization, after eighteen months of pandemic and strong social restrictions. This social and networking aspect is fundamental in the Park’s ecosystem, as almost half of the incubated companies collaborate with each other. After a few words of thanks from the General Director of the FPCM, Pilar Gil, the attendees participated in a contest about the companies of the Park and the history of the FPCM, in which the first three teams had their prize.

The Fiesta was closed by a raffle in which more than 20 prizes were distributed. Nights at Paradores Nacionales, adventure and gastronomic experiences, books, fruit and vegetable bars from the company Aora Health, electronic accessories or a coveted Iberian cebo ham were some of the gifts distributed.

Special mention should be made of the two Business Awards distributed at the Tombola, generously offered by the company EPMTIC. The first prize consisted of an IT consultancy, valued at more than €500, which went to the company EvoEnzyme. The second prize, a 5 Tb space in the EPMTIC cloud for six months, was won by the company Ghop, the youngest in the Park and recently incorporated into it.

The FPCM was created by the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) and the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) on June 6, 2001. Therefore, in 2021 the FPCM celebrates 20 years of life, during which it has incubated more than 320 scientific-technological based companies. The FPCM has adapted the programme of celebrations for this 20th anniversary due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For this reason, the Festival, originally planned for June, was delayed to September, and constitutes the starting point for the different commemorative activities that will take place until June 2022.
