Thanks to the collaboration between a research team from the Faculty of Medicine at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) and the company Pharmactive Biotech, the cardioprotective properties of aged black garlic have been studied.
The results of the study, which have been published in the scientific journal Journal of Functional Foods, confirm how aged black garlic can attenuate the decrease in cardiac contractility in rats after a myocardial infarction.
The company Pharmactive Biotech has its R department located in the business incubator that the Madrid Science Park manages on the Cantoblanco Campus. This study, therefore, is a good example of university-business collaboration with fruitful results that will be the basis for future scientific advances.
You can find all the details of this discovery in the news published by UAM Gazzete, the University’s Scientific Culture Unit.
