Funditec Intelligence is the Applied Artificial Intelligence unit of the Advantx Technological Foundation (Funditec). This unit drives the development of AI-based solutions to optimize processes, improve decision-making, and accelerate innovation in key sectors through high-impact R&D projects.

MAIN FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:
- Request and management of private and national R&D+i projects on applied AI specialized in its area: team coordination, technological guidance (framework selection, solutions, approaches, languages, etc.), meetings with clients and partners, handling scientific literature, etc.
- Development at the proof of concept (PoC) and non-commercializable prototype level to obtain new business.
- Supervision and coordination of the team’s work in the area to ensure that the project is completed within the established time and budget.
- Professional development of the AI engineers in your area.
- Technical participation in designing new project proposals in collaboration with the Business Development Manager.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Higher education degree, preferably in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, or similar.
- Master’s degree in AI/ML, Deep Learning, NLP, Generative AI, or similar.
Additional Training to Value:
- Master’s/PhD in Artificial Intelligence (and specialization in Generative AI).
Experience:
- 5+ years in managing/executing projects in the private and/or public R&D+i sector related to Applied and Generative AI.
- Experience in managing multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Experience in preparing and presenting private proposals and in public funding calls (national and/or European).
- Experience in technology transfer and interaction with end clients for the definition and development of solutions.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE (AI / ML / Generative AI)
AI/ML Fundamentals:
- Classic and Advanced Algorithms: Predictive models, anomaly detection, time series analysis, recommendation systems, bio-inspired algorithms, clustering, regression, classification.
- Natural Language Processing (NLP): Embedding techniques (Word2Vec, GloVe, FastText), Transformer-based models (BERT, RoBERTa, GPT, etc.), sentiment analysis, named entity recognition (NER), machine translation, text summarization, Question Answering.
Generative AI:
- Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Architectures: Deep understanding of Transformer-based architectures (Encoder-Decoder, Decoder-only), and familiarity with models like GPT (OpenAI), Llama (Meta), Gemini (Google), Claude (Anthropic), Mistral, and other relevant open-source models.
- Training and Fine-tuning: Experience in fine-tuning techniques (supervised, unsupervised, instruction tuning), advanced Prompt Engineering, LoRA, QLoRA, and other efficient adaptation techniques for LLMs.
- Evaluation: Metrics and benchmarks for evaluating LLMs (BLEU, ROUGE, METEOR, perplexity, Human Evaluation).
- Deployment and Optimization: Quantization, pruning, and model distillation techniques for deployment in local environments with resource constraints.
Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG):
- Design and implementation of RAG pipelines, including selection and optimization of vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus, FAISS), chunking strategies, embedding generation, and information retrieval techniques.
Agent-based Systems (Agentic AI):
- Knowledge and/or experience in designing and developing autonomous agents based on LLMs, using frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen, or similar. Understanding of concepts like planning, tool use, and memory in agents.
