The Madrid Science Park Foundation (FPCM) offers a permanent contract for a senior laboratory technician with lab management duties for the Genomics Unit. The position requires a highly qualified technical profile with proven experience in advanced molecular biology, including real-time and digital PCR, next-generation sequencing, and single-cell technologies.
This hiring is subject to authorization from the Community of Madrid’s Department of Economy, Finance, and Employment.
MAIN FUNCTIONS
- Technical support and advice for laboratory users.
- Preparation of budgets and project-related documentation.
- Planning and distribution of tasks among the service’s technicians.
- Organization of experimental runs and supplier management.
- Coordination with the bioinformatics team for data management and analysis.
- Participation in scientific and project follow-up meetings.
- Administrative management of delivery notes, expenses, and technical documentation.
- Supervision of laboratory maintenance, equipment, and inventory.
- Preparation and development of qPCR, digital PCR, and genotyping experiments.
- Preparation of libraries for sequencing (DNA, RNA, single-cell, among others) and execution of runs on Illumina and MGI platforms.
- NGS data management, including the use of platforms like BaseSpace or Galaxy.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a molecular biology laboratory in the areas of real-time PCR and digital PCR.
- Experience in user relations and team management.
- Proficiency in technical-scientific English (minimum B2 CEFR level).
- Expert use of genomic analysis software tools.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- The number of years of work experience in the laboratory.
- Knowledge of techniques such as: Automatic Sequencing, Next-Generation Sequencing, Genotyping, Gene Expression by real-time PCR, digital PCR, and Single-cell Sequencing.
- Practical experience with analysis software: FastQC, Cell Ranger, Mothur, etc.
- Additional training in project or scientific services management.
- Experience with data storage, processing, and analysis servers.
- Teamwork ability, proactivity, and experience in the management and motivation of human teams.
- Teaching experience at the university level or in other equivalent areas.
- Additional university degrees (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD).
