The company Empirical Advances is seeking to fill a position for a Head of R&D Materials Area.

Location: Madrid Science Park, Cantoblanco campus.
Position and Responsibilities
The person selected by Empirical Advances for the position of Head of R&D Materials Area will lead research and development in carbon-based materials for energy storage, working closely with the laboratory team.
Main responsibilities include:
- Leading and coordinating R&D lines, from design to validation and potential industrial scale-up.
- Setting technical and experimental objectives for ongoing projects.
- Researching, designing, and optimizing new materials or products according to market needs.
- Carrying out and analyzing experimental tests.
- Preparing technical documentation: reports, memoranda, proposals, and publications.
- Promoting internal innovation and team training.
- Coordinating with technical, quality, and production departments to ensure the technical feasibility of developments.
Requirements
Required Education
- Academic level: PhD.
- Academic degree: PhD in Materials Science.
- Previous education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant scientific or technological fields. Chemical Engineering will be a plus.
Knowledge and Desired Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in materials R&D laboratories, preferably with carbon-based materials applied to energy or environment.
- Knowledge of techniques such as BET, FTIR, SEM, Raman, TGA, XPS.
- Familiarity with carbonization processes.
- Ability to design tests, optimize processes, and analyze results.
- Strong technical and scientific writing skills.
- Knowledge of electrochemistry will be valued.
- Skills in technical leadership, project planning, and multidisciplinary teamwork.
- High level of English: written, spoken, and read.

- Location: On-site, with availability to collaborate across departments.
- Willingness to travel: Occasional.
