“I AM A SCIENTIST AND ENTREPRENEUR”
- The 3rd National Congress of Entrepreneurial Scientists seeks to clear up the unknowns that arise for a researcher who decides to create a science-based company
- The event will showcase real and motivational examples of entrepreneurial scientists and success stories of Spanish scientific start-ups
Madrid will host, on November 4th and 5th, the third edition of the congress of entrepreneurial scientists. For two days, the capital will be the meeting point for more than a hundred students, researchers, and entrepreneurs from different branches of life sciences, exact sciences, and engineering, interested in the creation and growth of new science-based companies.
The initiative aims to reaffirm how the commitment to entrepreneurship and technology transfer is a key element in generating wealth and leveraging the high capabilities of our country’s human capital, as well as an alternative for self-employment.
Under the title “The scientific method for entrepreneurship: formulas and advice”, the meeting aims to showcase the challenges and opportunities, as well as the difficulties and possibilities involved in materializing a business project of these characteristics.
Real success examples in first person
During the conference, important scientists who have made the leap to the business world will participate and share their experiences. These contributions will be articulated through round tables on different relevant aspects of entrepreneurship, in which debate and participation between speakers and attendees will be encouraged.
For their part, Spanish science-based companies will also have their prominence through parallel sectorized talks that will show real examples of spin-offs and start-ups that are references in their area.
Exhibitors area, workshops, and guided tours
The congress is presented as a dynamic environment where attendees can adapt what they have learned to their specific case, so the catalog of activities will be completed with an exhibitors area to get in contact with participating institutions and consult particular doubts.
In addition, thematic practical workshops will be held with small groups and visits will be made to centers and companies that are references in scientific entrepreneurship.
A joint public-private commitment
The congress, whose past editions were held in Valencia and Granada, will take place this time at the facilities of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (ICMAT) on the Cantoblanco campus in Madrid (UAM+CSIC International Excellence Campus).
It is organized by the Damián Rodríguez Olivares Foundation, with the collaboration of the Madrid Science Park, the National University of Distance Education (UNED), the consulting firm Kinrel, and the Spanish Association of Scientific Entrepreneurs (AEEC).
The initiative also has the support of a promotion committee formed by a large representation of the main public and private agents of the innovative entrepreneurship ecosystem in our country.
