The FPCM, in collaboration with EIT Health Spain, presented the II H2M (Health to Market) awards yesterday at an event at its facilities on the Cantoblanco campus. The awards have recognised the capacity for innovation in health and biomedicine of three young companies in the Madrid ecosystem. The winners were 2EyesVision in the category over 3 years old and Medea Mind and Horus ML in the category from 0 to 3 years old.
Social impact of the winners
The executive directors of the three companies, Carlos Dorronsoro (2EyesVision), Sara Zangri (Medea Mind) and Jesús Prada (Horus ML), received the awards from the general director of the FPCM, Marta del Castillo, and the head of institutional relations of EIT Health Spain, Ángeles Barrios.
The event highlighted the disruptive nature of the winners and their impact on improving people’s health and well-being. Specifically, the CSIC spin-off 2EyesVision has developed a visual simulation technology so that those who are going to have cataract or presbyopia surgery anticipate how they will see after the intervention. Medea Mind has created software that facilitates continuous monitoring of mental health, combining triage, data visualization and artificial intelligence to facilitate treatment selection and patient follow-up. The third laureate, Horus ML, offers a combination of optical devices and artificial intelligence to detect atherosclerosis when it is still asymptomatic and other cardiovascular risks, improving its prevention and treatment.
“We need innovation to reach professionals and patients, and finally, with recognitions such as this award, it is reaching the market,” said Zangri when collecting the award. For his part, Prada acknowledged that the award is “a strong boost” in their effort to contribute to “improving the Spanish health system”.
Previous recognitions
The presentation of the II H2M awards is in addition to other previous recognitions. Zangri, an entrepreneur from the Complutense University of Madrid, has recently been distinguished with the award for female entrepreneurship by the Ministry of Equality. This year she has also been highlighted by Forbes Spain as one of the 24 Changemakers of 2024. On the other hand, Horus ML, from the Autonomous University of Madrid, also has reasons for satisfaction. Two days ago, 4 Years From Now (4FYN), the connection event between startups and investors at the Mobile World Congress, announced that it has been selected as a finalist for the 4YFN Awards 2025, which will be held next March in Barcelona.
The event was attended by more than a hundred people belonging to companies and entities in the regional and national innovation ecosystem. Representatives of the Community of Madrid and the Madrid City Council have also attended. The Health to Market awards are part of the FPCM’s activities in its work to promote and support the creation and growth of knowledge-based companies and within the framework of the actions of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) to internationalise SMEs.
