The Madrid Science Park Foundation (FPCM) offers a permanent contract for a university graduate as a Data Analyst in its Genomics Unit.

This hiring is subject to authorization from the Community of Madrid’s Department of Economy, Finance, and Employment.

 

FUNCTIONS

As a Genomics Data Analyst, the selected person will primarily carry out the following activities:

  • Maintenance, optimization, management, and development of data analysis tools available in the Genomics Unit – FPCM, and incorporation of new tools or functionalities.
  • Processing of NGS data, demultiplexing of runs, quality control of sequences, and sample processing, such as adapter trimming.
  • Provision of omic data analysis services for users of the Genomics Unit – FPCM: genomics and metagenomics, transcriptomics and metatranscriptomics data, single-cell analysis, high-throughput genotyping/gene expression, statistical analyses, panel analyses, and variant filtering, etc.
  • IT and bioinformatics support for the Genomics Unit FPCM: management of equipment and servers, management of data storage systems, repositories, etc.
  • Collaboration in training and outreach processes related to the activities of the Genomics Unit and the general activity of the FPCM.

 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Hold a university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in fields related to Life Sciences.
  • Have completed a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics or have equivalent training.
  • Verifiable experience in Genomics data analysis, particularly in next-generation sequencing, real-time PCR, and/or single-cell analysis.
  • Proficiency with R packages.
  • Ability to program automated tasks within bioinformatics analysis workflows.
  • Knowledge and use of the Linux OS.
  • B2 level of English, according to the CEFR standard.
  • Possibility of immediate incorporation.

SELECTION PLAN

Candidates who obtain the highest score will be interviewed, provided they reach a total of 60 points in the sum of the assessable criteria (C1-C4). The candidate with the highest score will be hired, provided they reach 75 points (C1-C5).

  • C1. Knowledge of data analysis techniques: 40%
  • C2. Knowledge of next-generation sequencing and single-cell techniques: 20%
  • C3. Knowledge of Linux OS administration: 10%
  • C4. Other knowledge and experience that can provide added value: 10%
  • C5. Interview: 20%
