As part of the activities of the Enterprise Europe Network<\/a>, on June 20<\/strong> we had the pleasure of launching the Deep Tech Platform initiative in the Park’s auditorium <\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/i><\/a> with its I Investment Forum<\/strong> . This new platform of the Investor Network <\/span>Madri+d Business Angels Network (BAN) of<\/span><\/a> the <\/span>Madri+d Knowledge Foundation aims to<\/span><\/a> promote technology and innovation<\/strong> of <\/span>spinoffs<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>startups<\/span><\/i> who are committed to new solutions in different areas. The Madrid Science Park is one of the entities that support this platform, along with the CSIC and the universities of Alcal\u00e1, Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid, Carlos III, Polit\u00e9cnica and Rey Juan Carlos. <\/span><\/p>\n

Eight Madrid projects present their ideas in a hybrid format<\/b><\/h4>\n

Gabriel Flores as manager of BAN Madri+d-, Eduardo D\u00edaz as head of the Technology-Based Entrepreneur Area of Madri+d and David Arbelo as<\/span>responsible for FPCM Projects<\/span> welcomed the more than 40 attendees to the event. Among them were the representatives of the eight protagonist projects, potential investors and staff of the FPCM and Madri+d. <\/span><\/p>\n

Of the 29 projects presented from various sectors and in different stages of development, those selected for this I Deep Tech<\/em> Investment Forum were: Ownmed Innovation, Polar Green, Catedrion<\/a>, DeepFarm, Advanx, BreadFree, FutureVoltaics and Servatrix. The Park accompanies the last three, with FutureVoltaics also participating in the APTENISA<\/a> program and Servatrix in the CaTaPull<\/a> program. <\/span>All of them are looking to raise funding to expand their<\/span><\/strong>equipment, manufacture their products and market them all over the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

Promising bets in health<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Chief Scientific Officer of the Servatrix<\/a> company presented his company’s pioneering approach to treating fatty liver disease, specifically non-alcoholic steatohepatitis<\/a> (NASH), which causes 2 million deaths worldwide each year. Its treatment takes into account not only the metabolic variant of the disease, but also the inflammatory and oxidative stress-related variants. On the other hand, BreadFree<\/a> wants to improve the quality of life of all celiac people. This company – a finalist in the “Consumer Trends” awards at SouthSummit 2023 – has managed to eliminate gluten from wheat flour, preserving all its nutritional and flavour properties. <\/p>\n

Finally, the Gregorio Mara\u00f1\u00f3n Hospital spinoff<\/em> OwnMed Innovation<\/a> presented its Ostofix<\/a> devices, a minimally invasive alternative to the bags that ostomy<\/a> patients must use. Its devices already have a European patent.<\/p>\n

Digitalised livestock farming, solar energy and cleaner air <\/strong><\/h4>\n

In the field of livestock, DeepFarm<\/a> proposes to digitize livestock farms with AI and multiplatform systems to make them more efficient and improve animal welfare. On the other hand, on environmental issues, Polar Green and FutureVoltaics focus their efforts on solar energy. Polar Green showcased its portable systems designed to be quickly installed in remote locations or in emergency situations. FutureVoltaics<\/a> – a spinoff<\/em> of the CSIC – is also committed to solar energy with more efficient panels to take advantage of days and hours of low light. <\/p>\n

The award-winning Cedrion<\/a> – winner of the SANTANDER X GLOBAL CHALLENGE<\/a> – offers lightweight and versatile technology for cooling electric vehicles or purifying the air by eliminating bacteria and viruses with great efficiency (including SARS-CoV2). And finally there is AdvanX, a spinoff<\/em> of the UAM. This project presents a CO2 capture system to purify biogas and blue hydrogen – from hydrocarbons – which is most promising. <\/p>\n

A little coffee, a lot of <\/strong>networking<\/em> and let’s continue!<\/strong><\/h4>\n

After the presentations of these great entrepreneurial projects in Madrid and the questions of some of the potential investors, the search for financing continued, but outside the auditorium. In a much more relaxed atmosphere and coffee in hand, the conversations between entrepreneurs and investors flowed naturally and with great enthusiasm in the Park’s dining room. This put an end to this I Deep Tech Investment Forum of the Community of Madrid, which we trust will help to push these great and important ideas even further. We look forward to the next one! <\/p>\n
