Albufera Energy Storage is working on obtaining a rechargeable aluminium-air battery which can be used in the field of smart energy.
The company has chosen Aluminium as the base metal for its electrochemical energy storage device because it is the most abundant metal in the earth´s crust, it has very appropriate energy characteristics and it is already present in our daily lives in many appliances and materials.
From its technological development platform, the company leads one of the largest groups of experts in materials and electrochemistry of the academic and research sector in Spain. The Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), the Alicante University and the Madrid Institute for Advanced Energy Research (IMDEA) are, amongst others, part of this project.
The project is already seen as a reference point for the future of energy storage and for the field of Smart Grids and Smart Cities by nationally and internationally renowned institutions.
